Jamieson Cash
Artist in Residence
About Jamieson
Like most men of real genius, Jamieson Cash was born either at a time so
perfect for him that its significance is undeniable, or a time so wrong that
future generations will sigh in retrospective condolence for a life spoiled
by its inescapable surrounding context. Only time will tell.
Raised by
Southeast Asian pirates, abducted from a fishing boat off the coast of Hong
Kong at age five, Jamieson learned quickly to roll with the punches that
life served him, as can be proven by his earliest brush with death.
After
learning of the survival of one young American boy, Captain _______ (name
omitted at the request of the artist) grabbed the young scallywag by the
scruff of neck, intending to throw him overboard. Jamieson fumbled through
the pockets of his slacks for anything that he could find to save himself.
By chance, his fingers came to rest on a red crayon and a crumpled piece of
newspaper, which he quickly produced and proceeded to draw an uncanny
resemblance of the aged pirate. The drawing was so striking that Captain
________ set down the young boy and immediately vowed to raise him as his
own son.
After numerous years of adventuring and plundering, Jamieson
decided to enroll at Rhode Island School of Design. A dubious cohort of his
adopted-father gladly forged the necessary documents required for admittance
to the school. In college Jamieson discovered clay, something completely
foreign to Jamieson during his years upon the ocean, and quickly fell in
love with it. Jamieson graduated with a BFA in ceramics in June of 2007 and
then proceeded to move south to St. Petersburg, Florida. |
