Beginning Wheel Throwing

With Abigail Akers: Tuesday Mornings 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Levels 1-3
With Vai Alandikar: Tuesday Evenings 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Levels 1-3
With Leslie Johnson: Saturday Afternoons 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Levels 1-3
Level 1 - 3: This is the ideal class for those new to the pottery wheel. From centering the clay to trimming and finishing, students will learn all the essential steps in creating and bringing home their own piece of functional pottery.
$115 members/$130 for non-members + $30 material fee

The Pottery Experience

With Leslie Johnson
Saturdays 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Level 1; Begins May 3. Have you ever wondered what it is like to create pottery on the wheel? This two hour mini-class is just perfect for those just starting out. Students will learn the basics of throwing a pot and acquaint themselves with the medium of clay.
Only $50 for the whole experience; tools and clay provided. Bring a towel & a sense of humor.

Tile Making / Hand Building

With Janet Corrigan
Tuesdays 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Level 1 and Wednesdays 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Come explore your creativity with the wonders of tile making. Design your master tile and with that tile build the project of your choice. Take home a trivet, tabletop, tray or feature tiles for you kitchen or bath. This class will be great fun for the beginner or advanced student.
$115 for SPCC Members, $130 for non-members + $30 Materials Fee

THROWING WITH STAN

With Stan Cowen
Thursdays 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Level 3 - 5 Students of all skill levels will delight in this class designed to expand personal horizons. Stan will work with you to help set and meet personal goals for working with clay. Whether you are throwing or handbuilding, be ready to have fun and shoot for the stars!

Raku Firing Session

Raku is more fun when you fire with a group! Join us each month for our Saturday afternoon Raku firing sessions, and bond with your fellow potters over the glow of the kiln!
$25 for SPCC Members, $40 for non-members; Glazes are provided

Kitsch Ceramics

Thursdays, 7 pm - 9 pm
Learn to make wonderfully kitschy soapdishes, ashtrays and lamps.

Hey kids want to play in clay? Come experience, practice and learn hand building, wheel throwing and glazing. This class is packed with projects and techniques to guide you through the wonders of clay. All levels welcome.
$140 + $20 materials fee

Thursdays 4-5:30 (Designed for 8-12 year olds)

A fun after school class that is a combination of throwing on the wheel and handbuilding. This class will teach your clay skills and decorating terms and techniques. Class space limited - SIGN UP NOW!

PEL Classes

Class Levels Key :

Level 1 - This is your first time working with clay or first time working with the potters wheel

Level 2 - You have a limited amount of experience working with clay or the potters wheel.

Level 3 - You have a good working knowledge of clay. You are able to pull a 6" cylinder on the potters wheel.

Level 4 - You have a strong command of clay. You are able to create complex forms such as a teapot

Level 5 - Semi professional/highly talented amateur level. You are looking for new techniques to complement your process.
